The emerald island of Thassos is the northernmost island of the Aegean Sea and only 6 nautical miles away from the shore. Thassos is the ideal choice for those who want to travel to an island destination, but with the most possible comfort.
Ferry Connection
The ferry connection between the capital of the island Limenas and Keramoti takes about 40 minutes and the routes are very frequent, especially during the summer with roll on/roll off ferries.
The ferry connection between the city of Kavala and Skala Prinos takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes and the routes are frequent but not as much as in the connection Limenas-Keramoti.
Arriving by plane
There isn’t an airport on the island nevertheless there are two international airports close to Thassos; ‘Alexander the Great’ airport (KVL) in Chrysoupoli, and ‘Macedonia’ airport (SKG) in Thessaloniki.
If you arrive at ‘Great Alexander’, which is about 15 minutes away from the port of Keramoti, the best choice for you is to take a taxi, since there isn’t a bus connection. If you arrive at ‘Macedonia’ airport, the best choice is travel to the city of Kavala by bus, which takes about 2 hours, and from there to take the ferry to Skala Prinos.
Arriving by car
If you are travelling with your car, the immediate and safe access to both the ports through Via Egnatia (E90), makes the island of Thassos the ultimate island destination for you. To name but a few, Kavala is 4 hours away from Ioannina city, 2 hours away from Thessaloniki and 1hour and 30 minutes from Alexandroupolis.
