Kavala is located between the rivers of Nestos and Strimonas. Its position, by the alluring sea and on the road between West with East, makes Kavala a nodal point for communication of many different cultures and civilizations.

It is close to Xanthi (east), Drama (north) and Serres (west).  Kavala is the capital city of Kavala's prefecture. It is considered a big, modern urban centre and it has nothing to envy from other Greek cities, as it has innumerable beaches. It also has 3 small parks with sports facilities, ideal for trips or long walks. If you are a lover of walking, Kavala will not disappoint you; many walking paths begin from the centre of the city tempting you to get lost into the green paradise it has been hiding for years.
Apart from the amazing range of activities, this city is also ideal for the lovers of Greek civilization. All you have to do is to visit the Tobacco Museum and the Old Town with its big castle and take just a small taste of the huge cultural value of Kavala.
To get here you have several options: by car via the Egnatia road (680 km from Athens and 165 km from Thessaloniki), by bus and by train (until the train station of Drama).
